Never the Weather...

Only the clothes you wear. A friend of mine insists this. I am usually in agreement with him, to an extent.
We are approaching the end of our fourth day of gale - severe gale force winds, rain, hail and everybody around and about is starting to get a tad irritated. Especially as the bank holiday weekend approaches and by now, many have a respectable amount of miles under their keels.
On Saturday night, we bumped into some racers who were using the diabolical conditions to their advantage in this weekend's regatta. By being the only boat to finish in their class in three out of four races (one abandoned due to fifty knot gusts over the deck), they got the cup without trying too hard, but hanging on quite enthusiastically seemed to give them the edge.
The SW'erly old boots are a tad annoying at home too, as we face S/SW, therefore the wind blows straight at us and we have to put the heating on (in MAY, I won't even mention the toe paranoia).
It all appears to be thinking about settling down for now, so with any luck, everybody will cheer up and get on with fighting one another out there and arguing about collision regulations for the rest of the season.
As we came home this evening, we bumped into one of our neighbours. He is a nice sort (despite being the owner of a rather large Sunseeker). As we exchanged greetings and Fur cheerily asked him if was was off out 'to make some stink', he had a wail about the weather. 'This is going to be one of my cheapest seasons yet' he joked. 'I've only been out once'.
At that precise moment, it dawned upon me that we must go and get a nice orange storm jib, put a couple of very deep reefs in and the Solent will be our lobster (no offence Lob).

Indeed, not so keen on orange wither. Ha, you wait till it snows in July.

Ask your friend what people are supposed to wear when the weather is sunny and 43 degrees Celsius.
