Lightly treading

Yesterday lunchtime brought sunshine, gentle breezes and the chance of an afternoon sail.
This little glimmer of inspiration swiftly crashed to the ground as we stepped outside and hurried to the warmth of the car, as opposed to the pontoons.
The entire population appears to be hell bent on jamming up the roads in their rabid quests to shop until they drop. Aggressive driving is at its very best (worst) at this time of the year. Even the supermarket car parks never seem to empty.
Together with the daily careful opening of another door on the advent calendar; the compulsive urge to buy, store and eat (throw away) as much food as possible gathers strength.
It'll all end in tears and fatty livers.
I have yet to brave the High Street or Mauls. Sometimes I think I must have inherited my father's 'get everything on Christmas Eve' gene.
The thought of battling through angry, determined hoards of shoppers is enough to make me want to throw myself back into the marina.

A Bloglic Announcement

The reason why I deleted my comments was because recently they have been giving the Midas Touch to Fuff's comment strip. I thought that by removing my words of wisdom, commenters would return in droves. And look, it worked! First back is City Mouse. Congratulations CM! You win a Limestone Salt and Pepper Set.

I'm securing myself in my underground bunker and may surface after the holidays pass.

One of my favourite carols for you. A Virtual Gift.

Oh Little Town of Bethlehem
Oh little town of bethlehem, how still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by
Yet in they dark streets shineth, the everlasting light
The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

For christ is born of mary, and gathered all above
While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love
Oh morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth.
And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth.

How silently, how silently, the wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to human hearts the blessings of his heaven
No ear may hear his coming, but in this world of sin
Where meek souls will receive him still, the dear christ enters in.

Oh holy child of bethlehem, descend to us we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in, be born in us today
We hear the christmas angels, the great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us, our lord emanuel.
