Taking it easy

The Velux 5 Oceans fleet has only been under way for a day and is dealing with very tough, heavier than forecast conditions. Big winds, accompanied by very big seas.
In a short message that Robin Knox Johnston sent earlier to his shore team, he said the following:
"Nasty. Wind 58 knots, storm jib up, sea white with spray, surviving not racing, but okay. Irish coffee."

I have to vent somewhere....you won't believe just how many 'potential crew' are believing the bit about having won the boat in a Nigerian scam!

They are comparing the seas to those that were experienced in the 98 Sydney Hobart. Ouch!

Aaah - Irish coffee - contains all four essential food groups - fat, sugar, caffeine and alcohol.
