Exactly right - wot Rob said. Relax, don't fret about it, and don't try too hard. It's most likely a politcal game anyway, so just go with the flow. If it makes you feel any better, I failed my first driving test too. And now I drive in excess of 80 miles each day!
Hopefully the pedestrian you hit will recover quickly and you can retest. Or you could move to Italy where there don't appear to be any rules of the road.
